after the festive gala celebration comes the thorough clean-up. after the inmost insight comes steady determined application. after the fall from grace & light comes the humility to struggle from the shattered scattered rubble & resolutely rise up again: what is learned from the darkness is to be gathered & shared in the light. after the sincere sadhana comes the fading of maya's mirage in Shiva's pervasive light. He is kneading the soul as if it is bread being carefully prepared for baking. He is working His light deep into the cells that i may also be a light unto the world. wherever i am, Shiva declares it a temple & i bow humbly. i pray for the trees & the birds & for the young of all who are born to bless this sad besieged world with the nectar of their sweet purity. this is the time when abundant blessings are needed everywhere, for what is learned from the darkness is to be gathered & shared in the light.
the world encompasses us like a glove, holding us in place, making sure we know the moves & all the proper things to say. Shiva says this is the embrace of a protective cocoon designed to split open when we expand to fill it too tight. it is meant as an interlude in a long cosmic journey, & these words are but the quick flickers of one with wings in flight.
when a flower falls from its mother plant before my own eyes, i know that it is now offering itself for my altar to Shiva, the one who fills my life full. i myself have fallen into this world & cannot stop from calling out His name, for thus has He touched me & changed my life. His names are many, His presence is One.
on all sides we are urged to action in this world, to produce & share & organize & maintain, to think & discriminate & improve ourselves. great divine beings are also doing their work, all the suns in the galaxies lighting the way, & there is no end to the busyness of action. dear Shiva, i want only to do that which You have set before me, step by step, for You alone. You are actor & the action & the acted-upon & i do nothing but appear here in this world. You reveal to me that which is now needful & it takes on a life of its own, like a story in a vast unfolding divine presentation. dear Shiva, i know You want me to be here but i don't know why, nor am i concerned with it. this is Your world, Shiva, & i am here for You. my own existence is truly action for You. You are my service, my life & my final stop as mind becomes weary of its survival games. You urge me to be aware only of You now & that is my most vital action in this world: to rest in Your refuge as wave rests in ocean.
